Grown in the cold climate and fertile soils of Japan, Sugi NZ's authentic Japanese cedar is a world class, sustainably harvested, durable timber ideal for exterior cladding.
The geographical location of the cedar forests produce a highly desirable grain structure with warmth and lustre that readily accepts oils and stains. Japanese Cedar is grown sustainably with world class planting and management systems in place and has pending PEFC and GOHO certification.
Kiyama comes in a range of finishes including authentic Shou Sugi Ban or Charred Japanese Cedar, the traditional Japanese method of wood preservation that has been in use for centuries. It is highly durable with no additional harmful chemicals or treatments. All Sugi timber is carefully graded into specific categories, each grade offering a unique aesthetic and level of natural defect which appeals to different types of architecture.
